Initial planning ideas
Initial Planning Ideas is one of the primary steps of producing a trailer, opening title sequence and movie. Planning ideas are essential, as they help develop and structure the film, so the audience understand the events and kept engaged.
From me to you
Distribution company: Paramount
Title: From me to you
Style: Linear
After several lessons of our group trying to figure out what title of our trailer should be, the storyline, distribution etc. We then decided that we'd pick a sub-genre that we favoured; which was paranormal. After this decision, we slowly started to think of our storyline. The brief description of our movie is one of the best friends get into a traumatic car accident and the friend performs a seance to her friend. After the performance strange commodity accident, the other friend performs a seance in hopes that she would have one last conversation. Who are best friends hanging out with each other. Suddenly, one of them dies in a car accident. After this horrible incident, the friend performs a seance and extraordinary events occur.
The movies that inspired us were:
Ouija: Origin of Evil- At the beginning of the trailer, happy music is the soundtrack that suggests everything in the beginning was normal and everyone was living a happy life. However when something sudden happens which is the highlight of the movie (e.g. When the mother performs a seance and the girl becomes possessed) the happy soundtrack stops, and the creepy and suspenseful soundtrack comes in.
The Ring- We applied one of the main characters in our trailer (e.g. Possessed girl dressed in white dress and black hair) because this is the classical character in paranormal movies.
The style of this trailer is linear, the reason for why we chose this is because whilst analysing other horror trailers such as Paranormal Activity 4, Ouija: Origin of Evil and The Boy. We found that in most of them contained the style of linear. The style linear we also found effective, as the audience would fully understand what is occurring in the trailer and so they'll be kept entertained.
We have filmed all of our scenes in several locations which include the school, the shopping mall, the park, The Docks, a street and in a house. The reason why we chose these locations is because we studied most paranormal trailer, and most of them included our locations (in a house, park, street) e.g. Paranormal Activity 4. Furthermore, all the props used was 2 mirrors, cellphone, car, tops, cup/salt, hairbrush, glass of water and black ink .The production of our trailer started in September till this day we are editing and making progress in our trailer 'From me to you'.

in conclusion
The reason for why we chose the name 'From me to You' is because we thought this would suite the storyline (one of the best friends haunting the other friend).
We chose a small combination from the four following films Paranormal Activity 4, The Ring 2, Insidious, and Ouija: The Origin of Evil. These four films we chose are the most favoured and most inspiring films we've considered to apply in our trailer, as they helped us not only create our storyline, but the editing and techniques used in their trailers.
Consequently, throughout the organisation of initial planning ideas, No Pulse is satisfied but, may consider one our two favoured movie titles depending on the direction the production goes.
Nevertheless, as a group we are proud and understand fully how to plan and set certain achievements to reach; and hopefully go beyond the target.
We do know that we have quite a while to include most elements for an excellent trailer, but we'll develop and acknowledge how to create the best and updated version of a paranormal trailer made. Another software we've used to plan our journey producing our trailer is Prezi. The reason for this is because the website allowed us to create an creative background, and were all about presentation. The site also enabled us to explain and add images of our ideas, and it made a fun way to read the information (you can click on next slide and it would move in a direction to the next slide).

order of trailer
The green screen intro- This shot comes before anything else in a trailer. The written words on the green screen states "The following preview has been approved for appropriate audiences by the motion picture Association of America INC" below reads "The film advertised has been rated" under this writing reveals the rated restriction. This is used at the beginning of horror trailers or any trailer in fact; to inform the audience that the content of the trailer is appropriate for the following age. Since our target audience would be teenagers, the age restriction would be under 18. The length of this shot would be approximately a minute.
The distribution company- This is the following shot after the Green Screen. This shot is important because, when the audience see that a distribution has been incorporated in a trailer it tells the audience that the trailer they're about to see is going to be gold; as that distribution company have belief that the film (trailer) is going to be profitable. Distribution companies also give the trailer recognition and have access to distribute the trailer worldwide.
The production company- Normally, this shot is after the distribution company. However, sometimes the distribution and production company can be put together in the same shot; as some distribution companies produce and distribute films. These companies put in the time, money and efforts into the production of the film; so they have to be credited in a trailer.
Titles relating to a brief description of the story- In the Paranormal Activity trailer, the titles that is included says "This October" "For the first time" "The Activity" "Will be revealed". This informs the audience that whilst watching the movie, they'll acknowledge that there is an evil presence in the house, haunting their child.
Title of the movie- The title of the movie tells the audience what the name of the movie is. After the shot of the title, in the next shot shows the audience where they can receive more information about the movie. This is important because after the audience acknowledge the title of the movie and where to get more information and clips of the movie via social media. This will encourage them to advertise this movie by watching the trailer.

We used the distribution From this trailer, as we found it most captivating than others.

the quiet ones
We applied the order of titles in this trailer, as it looked more professional than the other trailers that didn't have the order of green intro, distribution company then production company.
Picture on the left, we were also inspired by the woman brushing her hair in the mirror, we found this effective because we could use this innocent action (brushing hair), and turn it into something twisted (creepy girl in mirror about to strangle the character).
Picture on the right, we used the character from this image and applied it to our trailer, as we thought this would be a classical character in your typical horror. The Ring is also well-known for this character in the movie.

tHEORIST
Wes Craven is one of the theorists we used in our trailer planning, as most of the tragedies that occur is in Rebecca's (Jozi's) house. His theory is that most horror's are successful when their based around safe and secure place i.e. Home; normally with no one else around. Therefore, we used his theory as we produced many successful films such as Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, The Hills Are Alive etc. That has served great entertainment during the years.
