Notes on LIGHTING
Lighting is an essential part of filming, as not only is this used so the audience focuses on a specific character, but also lighting is used to give the character a higher or lower status.
The best thing about lighting is our group is able to create effects and these effects engage the audience; also making them analyse the situation occurring. Lighting called three-point lighting is a basic setup of lighting; the three are key light, fill light and backlight.
Key lighting:
Is to highlight the and dimension of the subject. (Is the brightest light source). Bright lighting can indicate safety and innocence. Once key light is positioned on a character, this makes it easier for the viewers to analyse the characters facial expressions and body language and identify their personalities.
Fill lighting:
This is a softer light, this lighting is opposite to key light. As this lighting fill in the shadow area created by other lights, fill lighting is used to brighten the shadows made by the key light. This lighting is effective, as the audience acknowledge what is happening in the scene, and this also creates an atmosphere of normality.
Backlight lighting:
This type of lighting is a controlled technique, used in photography or theatre. Which a light is positioned behind or at right angles to an object, character, scene to make such effects. This lighting creates a sense of relaxation, mystery and intensity; and the several effects are high or low-key lighting.
